The False Dawn
Adam stood up, brushing the dust from his clothes, only to find that the library was no longer the same. The books scattered on the floor didn't contain words anymore; instead, their pages were filled with drawings of temporal pathways and celestial maps of stars no human had ever seen.
Suddenly, his eyes caught something in an ancient mirror hanging in the corner. He didn't see his own reflection. Instead, he saw his grandfather standing directly behind him, dressed in clothes from a century ago, his face hauntingly calm.
The Bitter Truth
Adam spun around quickly, but no one was there. When he looked back at the mirror, his grandfather was pointing a finger toward the shattered heart of the clock. There, amidst the debris, lay more than just gears; there was a tiny mechanical embryo made of gold, pulsating with a dim, rhythmic light.
The shocking truth hit him: the clock wasn't just a prison for an evil entity; it was a mechanical life-support system for Time in this region. By destroying it, Adam had caused Time itself to wither and decay.
Escape from Nothingness
The walls of the house began to peel away—not revealing brick or wood, but an absolute black void. The house was vanishing piece by piece. Adam bolted toward the main door, but the hallway seemed to stretch endlessly.
The moment his hand touched the doorknob, he felt a cold hand grip his shoulder. His grandfather's voice whispered in his ear:
"You cannot leave, Adam. He who breaks the clock becomes the new hand."
The Shocking Ending
Adam burst outside and collapsed onto the green grass in front of the house. He breathed a sigh of relief as he watched the sun rise. But when he looked at his hand, he let out a scream of pure terror. His hand was no longer flesh and bone.
Beneath his skin, tiny brass gears were turning slowly. And when he looked at his shadow on the ground, it didn't move with him. Instead, it moved with mechanical precision—one tick every second.
He had escaped the house, but he had become a walking clock. Since then, the villagers tell stories of a strange young man who wanders the streets, never aging. But if you get close enough and press your ear to his chest, you won't hear a heartbeat. You will hear the sound of ancient gears saying: Tick... Tock... Tick... Tock.
